At Linden Learning House, we believe early childhood should be a time of wonder, confidence-building, and joyful discovery. Our in-home kindergarten preparation program serves children ages 3–5 in a warm, small-group setting designed to feel like a home away from home while still delivering the intentional structure children need to thrive.
Rooted in the Science of Reading, our literacy instruction is explicit, systematic, and engaging, building strong foundations in phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, and comprehension from the very beginning. We pair this with hands-on early math experiences, social-emotional learning, and purposeful play that supports the whole child. Every day includes time for movement, outdoor exploration, and child-led learning that encourages curiosity and independence.
Linden Learning House follows a school-year calendar and runs as a consistent half-day program Monday through Friday, creating a predictable rhythm that helps young learners feel secure and successful. Our goal is simple: to prepare children not just for kindergarten, but for lifelong learning, by nurturing their academic skills, confidence, and love of learning in their most formative years.
Katherine received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in Global Studies, from Purdue University. She taught a variety of elementary grade levels before becoming a school literacy specialist, serving both students and teachers from kindergarten through eighth grade. In this role, she continued to grow professionally by developing curriculum aligned with the Science of Reading, coaching teachers on best instructional practices, and working with small groups of students with individualized education plans. She also earned her Early Literacy Endorsement through the state of Indiana. Katherine later obtained her Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Indiana University. She is licensed as both a preschool through twelfth-grade school administrator and an elementary education teacher.
In a small, home-based setting, children receive individualized attention that simply isn’t possible in larger classrooms. This allows instruction to be tailored to each child’s unique strengths, interests, and areas for growth. Whether your child is just beginning to recognize letters or is ready to start blending sounds and reading simple words, lessons can meet them exactly where they are.
A home environment also provides a sense of comfort and security. Young learners often feel more relaxed and willing to take risks when they are in a cozy, familiar-feeling space. This helps build confidence, independence, and a love of learning, key foundations for long-term success in school.
